Your Child's First Dental Visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children first visit the dentist when their first tooth appears or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. Early dental visits are essential for establishing good oral health habits and preventing dental problems before they become more serious.

During the first dental visit, we will assess your child’s dental development and identify any potential issues such as tooth decay, or misalignment of the teeth or jaws. We will also provide guidance on how to properly care for your child’s teeth and gums, and give advice on issues like thumb-sucking or pacifier use, which can impact dental health.

Early dental visits can also help your child become more comfortable with the dentist and the dental office experience, reducing any anxiety they may feel about future visits. By establishing a “dental home” at an early age, children are more likely to have good oral health habits and a positive attitude toward dental care throughout their life.

Meet Dr. Foster

Hi! I am Dr. Katie Foster.
How lucky am I to be able to serve all of the wonderful families in Timnath, CO?!

A little about who I am. I was born and raised in Northern Nevada- Reno to be exact. I moved to Thousand Oaks, California, in 2005 where I attended California Lutheran University and graduated with distinction receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in biology. While in college, I also studied the classical violin, was part of my school’s orchestral program and was a competitive swimmer.

I received my dental degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where I realized early on my passion for working with and treating children. Following my dental training, I pursued my pediatric residency at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in association with the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. I obtained extensive knowledge regarding clinical pediatric dentistry, dental emergencies as well as the skills to care for special needs and medically compromised patients.
